I would be curious to know if this is owned by Los Bravos because the menu here is virtually a complete replica, even listing the same "NEW" menu items!! I can't find any online proof but sure is curious! My husband and I decided to stop in for a late lunch since we had heard this is the "best Mexican around" and I was quite surprised to experience such slow service given that we were one table of perhaps 4 or 5 in the entire place. I'm not too sure as to their excuse which is why I'm having a hard time giving more than 3 stars. As for the food, we were pleasantly surprised. I ordered a chicken breast topped with chorizo and my husband ordered a chile relleno, which actually isn't called a chile relleno in Indiana or at Fiesta Grande. This was the first restaurant in Indiana we've actually been able to find an authentic chile relleno which was nice, however for some reason it was a bit soggy when it should be nice and crispy on the outside. The batter also tasted like it had been fried in old oil used for french fries. No bueno!! I'm willing to give it another chance though. On the other hand, my chicken chorizo was quite tasty and the chorizo had excellent flavor and the perfect amount of spice. I would love to come here on an evening when the margaritas get flowing and the party gets started!! I shall return Fiesta Grande! Side Note: My standard for Mexican food are extremely high having lived in a Mexican food mecca for 20 years. For Indiana natives this place would probably receive a 5-star ranking!

Yum! I love Mexican food so I was pretty excited to go here for dinner. The menu is pretty extensive, lots of choices for seafood, burritos, beef, pork, vegetarian, etc. After you're seated, they promptly bring out a basket of chips and a bowl of salsa for you to munch on while you decide on what to eat. Our table shared an order of wings (which aren't on the menu). The sauce wasn't quite the same as normal buffalo wing sauce. It had a nice peppery kick to it, but didn't have as strong of a vinegar or butter flavor. The wings came with a nice pile of fries and the waiter brought out a bottle of ketchup for us. For my entree, I ordered the Shrimp a la Mexicana. It was really good. The plate was half shrimp, quarter rice, quarter lettuce and "avocado sauce" (or guacamole). The shrimp was flavored nicely and I loved all of the jalapeños scattered across the dish. My one colleague got the Jalisco Special which was chicken, shrimp, and steak with a bunch of vegetables and a cheese sauce piled on top of rice. It looked really yummy. My other colleague ordered the Cancun Special with chicken (no shrimp, he specified) and that looked really good too. It was piled with vegetables (carrots and cauliflower from what I saw). Each of our dishes was under $10 and the portions were really generous. The other half of the restaurant is a late-night fun area with a live band on the weekends. I could hear the bass as I was eating and then eventually I heard drums and guitar from the live band. It sounded like a good time, and apparently, it's the hot spot for young people to hang out at. I had work early the next day, so I wasn't at all interested in checking it out. I did end up there later (that weekend) and it was a pretty good time. There isn't much nightlife in Tell City so it gets relatively busy at the Cantina. The boys liked to call it the "Slut-tina" because of the wardrobe and behavior of the bulk of the females hanging out here, so let that information tempt or ward you off - whatever floats your boat. Drinks were SO cheap compared to the NYC drink prices I was used to. Our waiter was really attentive and made sure our drinks were replenished when we needed/wanted it. The ambiance was nice, though the tables seemed like they were from the 70s, and the decor was kitschy (brightly colored walls and sombreros hung up randomly) but isn't that what you expect form a Mexican restaurant?

Take it from a Mexican American who grew up on the Mexican Border. This place rocks! It's one of those rare gems that you find during your travels. 9 out of 10 times I'm disappointed with so called Mexican Restaurants but this one is the real deal. Authentic Tex-Mex and Northern Mexico specialty plates. Took some friends from Iceland and all of us cleaned our plates!!

Great local Mexican restaurant in Tell City. For authentic Mexican food, you can't get better. My husband has raved about this restaurant for over 20 years. We visited them recently on a road trip and loved it! Same owner, Javier Mendes, runs a tight ship. Excellent service, Great margaritas, warm tortilla chips, fresh guacamole, individual salsa bowls, and then the dinner. We had chicken and shrimp dishes and they were perfect...be careful the plate es hot! Good value for money and fast service. No rush to finish we sat and talked and ate and thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant. It will be on our list anytime we are in the Tell City area!

Typical Mexican food in a small town. Nice menu selections. The beer is nice and cold. Service was efficient and friendly as I have found in most Mexican restaraunt. I usually try the local Mexican places because it is rare to get a bad meal.

Que Rico! Fiesta Grande is a really nice surprise for authentic and delicious Mexican food in Tell City! Located along the main drag and surrounded by your typical fast food stops is a real treat for those who stop to eat. Warm, thin and crispy tortilla chips (and not all broken) served with a zesty red salsa with enough heat and garlic to keep you dipping into the chips the whole meal. The lunch combos allow almost any mix and match you can think of with choices including : Enchiladas, Tacos, Burritos and even Tamales (yes! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!) with rice and beans for the unbelievable price of $5.29 for Lunch. Fajitas also seem to be a popular selection from the locals, and they also have Huevos Rancheros, Huevos Con Chorizo for $5. Dinners are all less than $10 with a huge menu from seafood to other traditional Mexican classics. Save room for the amazing Flan for dessert-rich creamy egg custard dripping with caramel sauce and worth every calorie. The only drawbacks is that smoking is allowed in the mixed dining room-so even if you are segregated it still drifts around the restaurant. You may also need a shoehorn to get into the restroom-so beware the swinging doors when entering and exiting. Great value, good portions, and delicious fare. Definitely a Fiesta muy Grande in Tell City.

Being from San Diego, a stones throw away from Mexico, I didn't expect authentic Mexican food a stones throw away from Kentucky. I was quite surprised with the quality of food and the variety. I've traveled out of state before and was always presented with fast-food generic Mexican food. Fiesta Grande holds its own with many California based Mexican food restaurants. Was also pleased to see Dos Exis as a beer choice and not Bud Light-Lime.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
